Moving into the last part of 2026...

It is kind of surprising this year is moving to a close - the time has flown as I have been engulfed in a large house project.  But... I have been able to squeeze out some creative time and finish a few new works.  So as I check my calendar, I am thrilled to plan for several holiday shows and upcoming exhibits.  The opportunities to show and sell my work fuels my creative energy and I so appreciate being able to continue on this path of creativity. Every time you purchase an artist's work, or show up at an artist reception or even simply 'like' a post from any artist, you help to continue the positive nature of art and creativity.  There are, of course, bigger issues in the world but know the smallest of gestures mean the world to someone. And specifically for me, your gestures mean everything. 

I work as a fiber artist who creates collage pieces inspired by the mosaic format. Instead of traditional tessarae of stone and tile, I use fabrics and incorporate found objects. Sometimes my work is enhanced by paint and other fiber materials. 

The mosaic form brings together pieces into energetic and arresting visuals. As one of history's oldest forms of decoration and art, mosaic is timeless. I'm drawn to contemporary images as they appeal to my sense of the dramatic and spiritual.

My current work is inspired by nature, specifically geological formations. 

My process of using fabrics to create mosaic work has evolved to capture ideas and feelings while giving the viewer a modern interpretation of the mosaic form.

Over the last 26+ years, some of the most cherished moments of my career have been when my art inspires feelings of joy and reflective peace. I strive to create art that is positive, celebratory, and honors the vibrancy of my chosen subjects.

At the bottom of the Works page, I included a link "View Archived Work".  Here you'll find images of previous sold work and commissions - a great resource if you are interested in a particular subject for a commission. (Also, this section demonstrates how my work has progressed over my career.) Each work is an original, one-of-a-kind but I have created variations of pieces upon request.

Many creative people enjoy exploring techniques or projects outside of their primary medium. For me, it is working with felted wool and upcycled materials. When I can not work in my studio, I burn off my creative energy by creating pins and gift items accented with zippers. These “Zippy Pins and Pals” are sold in area galleries, my Etsy shop (ZippyDesignsbyLori) as well as the gallery shop at the Textile Center in Minneapolis, a national center for fiber art.
